Ella Eyre (* 1. April 1994 in London , real name Ella Mary McMahon ) is an English pop - and R & B - singer and songwriter .

biography

Ella Eyre grew up in West London and took dance lessons at the age of four. She attended boarding school in Somerset , where she starred in a school play by Bugsy Malone and discovered her passion for the stage. She applied to the BRIT School in Croydon , where she studied acting. It was there that she discovered her interest in music, Eyre was discovered as a singer and in 2012 she sang two songs by Bastille on a mixtape. In spring 2013 she was the voice of Rudimental's Waiting All Night , with whom she also toured England. The song peaked at number one on the UK charts and that success helped her sign a record deal with Virgin . Further collaborations with Tinie Tempah and Naughty Boy followed , before their first EP Deeper was released in late 2013 . She wrote the title song herself with Benjamin Ash.

In early 2014, Waiting All Night was nominated for Single of the Year at the BRIT Awards and Ella Eyre was a nominee in the Critics' Choice category for Most Promising Newcomer. When Sound of 2014 the BBC she was put in second place. Then Deeper went into the British charts.

She also wrote the German song for the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest , Black Smoke , which was sung by Ann Sophie .
