Paloma Faith
Paloma Faith , actually Paloma Faith Blomfield (born July 21, 1981 in Hackney , London ) is an English actress and singer .
biography
Paloma Faith is trained as a jazz singer and dancer and holds a Masters degree in theater directing from St. Martins College . At 18, she appeared in cabarets as a singer in a cover band called Paloma and the Penetrators and as an assistant to a magician, and later she took part in a burlesque theater.
She got into the music business through a casual job in a lingerie shop. A customer there was able to provide her with appropriate contacts. She was also offered to work as a backing singer for Amy Winehouse ; However, she preferred an independent career. Musically, they range from jazz pop of the 1950s to Motown soul and funk soul of the 1970s. The half-Spaniard also became known for her extravagant stage shows, in which she places particular emphasis on costumes and stage decorations. Die Zeit judged their singing to be a mixture of jazz, soul, chanson and glamor pop.
From 2006 she also played smaller roles in television series, and then gained greater fame through her participation in The Girls of St. Trinian (2007). Since 2019 she can be seen as a bleached contract killer in the Epix series Pennyworth about the early years of Alfred Pennyworth, a character from the DC Comics universe who will later become the butler of Batman .
With the song Stone Cold Sober , Paloma Faith had a first hit in her home country in the summer of 2009, which was extremely successful on the radio and also attracted interest abroad. In August and September 2009 it was released in Australia and various European countries. She gained greater fame with the song New York . After three previous Brit Awards nominations , Faith was named "Best British Female Solo Artist" in 2015.

reception
“Because it is so beautiful, first the name: Paloma Faith. A loyal pigeon with a fickle biography. Lingerie seller, stage assistant to a magician, burlesque performances, singer by chance. 24 years old, from London. Does that already explain their wicked magic? It smells of variety, of a life for the show in front of velvet red curtains. There's no longer anything like that on the Reeperbahn , only in the cinema when Baz Luhrman lets the corsetted Nicole Kidman sing at the Moulin Rouge . Or when Dita von Teese is kicking her champagne glass, ”wrote Rabea Weihser in 2009 as a prelude to her interview with Paloma Faith in the weekly newspaper Die Zeit . And she concludes with the observation that Faith knows that she is just a product that a major label needs year after year: “She knows that Amy Winehouse and Duffy resonate in her voice . That Lady Gaga's eccentricity made her way into the charts. "
