content

The lyrics to 194 countries were written in German. The music was composed by Beatzarre, Djorkaeff, Mark Forster, Robin Haefs, Daniel Nitt and Philipp Steinke, the text was written by Beatzarre, Djorkaeff, Forster, Ralf Christian Mayer, Nitt and Steinke. Musically, the song is in the field of pop music . In terms of content, the song deals with the thirst for adventure and the longing for a loved one anywhere in the world. Forster writes very autobiographically in 194 countries and mentions numerous places that have accompanied him on his way, such as the Camino de Santiago. Also mentioned are the famous Abbey Road Studios , where Forster recorded his single Kogong in 2017 .

The song starts with an intro followed by the first verse. The pre-chorus "And I'm looking at my cell phone again" leads over to the first chorus " There are one hundred and ninety-four countries" . Towards the end the chorus contains the hook line "La, la la la, la, la, la la la" , which is also used as an instrumental riff. This is followed by the second verse, as well as the pre-chorus and chorus. A short, instrumental interlude is followed by the contrasting bridge "And I'm sleeping again" . It now leads directly to the chorus, the pre-chorus is omitted. The song ends with a repetition of the chorus as an outro with a four-bar instrumental finish. The shape of the song corresponds to the verse-chorus-bridge shape. The less common 4-chord sequence VI – I – IV – V used here is a modification of the more well-known form VI – IV – I – V.

Background information

Forster mentioned the 194 countries in detail in the five-part documentary LIEBE, which he published on YouTube to promote the album of the same name . There he also goes into more detail about the feeling of always having to think of a person, no matter where he is and that even at such moments he is staring at his cell phone in order to make contact with that person. The documentation was accompanied by Lutz van der Horst .
