Ralf Christian Mayer

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ralf Christian Mayer is a German musician , songwriter and music producer .

Life

In his youth, Mayer completed an apprenticeship as a retail salesman in a music shop and did community service . At the same time, he played in various pop-rock formations and recorded his first pieces using four-track cassette recorders and a U87 studio microphone . Mayer has been the owner of the Tucan Studio recording studio in Kornwestheim ( Baden-Württemberg ) since 1999 .

Musical career

Musical beginnings

By chance came Mayer in contact with the owner of the Tucan Studios and was from that with the mixing of advertising music commissioned. This was well received, so that Mayer worked regularly for the studio in the following years. In 1988 the first album Mayer produced was released. This is the album It's Nice Noise by the German folk rock band Vaseline Joystick. They were awarded the Federal Rock Prize for their album. Shortly afterwards it became a little quiet around him before two albums produced by him were released in 1993. First he produced House of Sounds for the German Gothic band The Tors of Dartmoor. Shortly thereafter, The Coalminers 'Beat was the first major production for Sony Music Entertainment , the German Irish folk band of the same name, The Coalminers' Beat . For his first major album, Mayer had a budget of 150,000 D-Marks .

Breakthrough and successes with Clueso

Mayer celebrated his first successes as a music producer together with Clueso . In 2006 he produced his third studio album Far Away and was able to celebrate chart successes with the album for the first time. The album reached position twelve in Germany, stayed in the charts for 13 weeks and was awarded a gold record in 2009 for over 100,000 copies sold. The success followed with two more albums with Clueso. So much was released in 2008 , the album reached number three in Germany, as well as chart listings in Austria and Switzerland. The album was awarded three gold awards in Germany for over 300,000 units sold. 2011 appeared with In and of itself the third album. The album barely missed the top of the chart in Germany and was awarded platinum for 200,000 copies sold. The last two albums were not just about production, Mayer also worked as the author of many pieces.

Establishment and further successes

The success with Clueso led to collaborations with other well-known artists. In 2007 he produced, among other things, the Party Hitmix Vol. 2 by Pur . The single was able to place itself in the German single charts for seven weeks. In 2009 he produced the album Another Lover by the German singer-songwriter Mariha . In 2011 he participated in two pieces on Cassandra Steen's album Mir so nah . In 2012 Mayer started a collaboration with the Rhineland-Palatinate pop singer Mark Forster . He produced his debut album, Karton, and Forster's second studio album, Bauch und Kopf . Most recently, on April 1, 2016, the single Wir sind Groß was released, another collaboration between the two of them, in which Mayer also acts as an author, which will be found on Forster's third album; In addition, the piece will be the official contribution to the coverage of the 2016 European Football Championship by ZDF . Between the two projects with Forster, Mayer produced the album Nix without a reason for Pohlmann.

In addition to his work as an author and music producer, Mayer made a name for himself in terms of mastering and programming. Here he worked for DJ Thomilla , Die Fantastischen Vier , Massive Töne , Bob Sinclar , Lou Bega , Camouflage , Ferris MC , Xavier Naidoo , ASD , Andreas Gabalier and many more.
