Gong Yoo (born July 10, 1979 in Busan , South Korea ; real name: Gong Ji-cheol ) is a South Korean actor .
Life
Gong holds a bachelor's degree in theater from Kyung Hee University .
Gong Yoo pursued the idea of a film adaptation of the novel Dogani by Gong Ji-young . The film caused a sensation in South Korea after its release in September 2011. The cases of child abuse depicted in the film were then reopened by the court. In late October 2011, a new law on sexual abuse of minors and the disabled was also passed.
In 2013, Gong returned to the big screen as a North Korean spy in the action film The Suspect . After a two-year hiatus from film, he returned to film in the love drama alongside Jeon Do-yeon . The film A Man and A Woman is about a love affair between an older woman and a younger man. He also plays the leading role in the action-packed zombie film Train to Busan (2016), which was invited to the Cannes International Film Festival .
