action

Kamuro-chō ( 神 室町 ), a fictional Tokyo neighborhood in the Shinjuku district , groans and moans under record temperatures. During the energy-sapping heat wave, events soon roll over. In several parallel episodes, the main characters are presented, whose experiences are loosely linked to one another.

In the evening, two moronic robbers raid a bank branch without stealing a large amount of cash. The bank's deposits, around ten billion yen from the Tōjō clan, have disappeared without a trace. At this point in time, the masked men have no idea of their failed coup and take some of the staff and customers hostage . The action keeps the completely overwhelmed Commissioner Noguchi in suspense. Colleague Date follows the action with the necessary distance. In a subplot, the petite Yui and her anxious friend Satoru rob various businesses in order to finance outstanding debts and an abortion .

Meanwhile, ex- Yakuza Kazuma Kiryū , who is innocent for the murder of the former oyabun (godfather), is released after serving a ten-year prison sentence. The purified gangster tries to turn his life inside out. Shortly after his release, however, he was hostile to the thugs of a rival clan and embroiled in brutal fistfights, from which he emerged victorious. Kiryū, who was about to found his own clan before his imprisonment, is accompanied by little Haruka, the alleged niece of a childhood friend. The gifted fighter follows his protective instinct and supports the little girl in her search for missing relatives. He also tries to visit Kazama, the current oyabun and chairman of the Tōjō Syndicate, to which he once belonged. At this point Kazama was already kidnapped.

The lost money quickly arouses desires in the Japanese underworld, which is divided into several Yakuza clans. Shortly before he is abducted, Kazama hires a South Korean professional killer to work on a corrupt politician who is associated with the disappearance of the billions. At the same time, a psychopathic one-eyed man named Gorō Majima, leader of his own family syndicate, follows in Kiryū's footsteps. The two men share an old love-hate relationship.

At some point Kiryū meets Oyabun Kazama, who pretends to have been kidnapped by the Nishikiyama clan, a rogue group of the Syndicate. The underworld size explains to Kiryū the details of his disappearance. The loyal subordinate then faces Akira, his childhood friend of many years. The conspirator is defeated in a final effort by Kiryū. Then Haruka's mother, the robber of ten billion yen, approaches the main actor. A happy ending seems within reach for little Haruka, but her mother, who is somehow also the aunt, has her own goals. She wants to assassinate a corrupt politician with all her might and kill the Park, the South Korean killer, in a timely manner. There is a huge explosion that swirls masses of banknotes into the air and spreads them over the city. Haruka's mother dies. At the end of the film, little Haruka stays with Kiryū.

Reviews

The lexicon of international films wrote that the film was a "furiously staged action film based on a computer game that is not interested in psychological finesse" but "gets straight to the point".
