action

The blond-colored killer Mizuki Okamoto, who works on behalf of a magic middleman, one day receives the order to kill a yakuza boss. The job turns out to be not particularly difficult. He holed up with his sniper rifle and was aiming at his victim, when his terminally ill, suddenly appearing childhood friend and professional colleague Shūichi Sawada, who brutally liquidated the Yakuza boss and his entourage at close range, took over the job. Mizuki nevertheless goes to his client and illegally collects the agreed 30,000 US dollars that he donates to needy children in the third world . However, he hides from his middleman that he wasn't the shooter. When Mizuki is found to be a liar, he hastily leaves the mainland and fled to his remote home village. His murderous childhood friend, whom he has not seen for decades, also fled to his native village independently of him to find refuge there. The two are wanted by warring gangster clans, as well as by the judiciary.

When they reach their home village on an unknown island together, the two friends from old orphanage days find each other again. Together they go to the fisherman Kōhei and his pregnant wife Noriko, two other friends from their childhood, and experience some wonderful, relaxing moments with them; wallow in old memories. However, they hide from their friends that they are hacked assassins.

One day, Mizuki offers his friend Shū to work together as a professional killer in order to guarantee basic medical care for children in need with her payment. After they have turned their backs on their idyllic homeland, they begin as a murderous team in the big city to hunt down and murder crooks for money. In this way they earn almost half a million US dollars until one day they take on a bogus assignment that makes them the target of avenging members of Chinese triads . Mizuki and Shūichi manage to survive the attack, seriously injured, and they flee back to their home village.

During the crossing to the island, however, the blond killer succumbs to his injuries at the end of the film. His friend and colleague Shūichi then wears him a piece when the film ends with a shot of Kōhei's dear family happiness. He has become the father of a son.

Reviews

"Often broken, melancholy tinged gangster film, which despite its almost meditative character offers a lot of action, which leads to sometimes disturbing parallel montages."
