K-1 career

In October 2007 Masato took part in the K-1 World Max Finals in Tokyo for the sixth time in a row . In the quarterfinals he met last year's winner Buakaw Por. Pramuk . Both were traded alongside Andy Souwer as favorites to win the title. Shortly before the end of the first round, Masato Buakaw was able to hit the ground for the first time in his career. Masato fought the rest of the fight at the same high speed and achieved a point victory. His opponent in the semifinals, Artur Kyshenko , fought a strong first round. Masato knocked him out in the second round. He was in the final against Andy Souwer. In the first round Masato Souwer caused big problems with his offensive fighting style. Andy Souwer, who often fights very wait-and-see in the first round and analyzes his opponents, increased the pace in the second round. He tried to force a TKO with low kicks and Masato's legs, which had already been affected in the two previous fights, showed serious impact. Masato did not compete for the third round, leaving Souwer to win.

In the qualification for the K-1 World Max Finals 2008 Masato was able to prevail against the trained boxer Virgil Kalakoda in the third round with a knockout. He won the final against Artur Kyshenko (Ext.1R Decision 3-0).
