The Amt Kaltenhof was an administrative district of the Hochstift / Principality of Lübeck (today part of the Ostholstein district in Schleswig-Holstein ).

The office Kaltenhof developed in 1623 on the (fortified) episcopal farmyard Kaltenhof for the administration of the episcopal property.

In 1640 the seat of the Kaltenhof office was relocated from the Kaltenhof farmyard to the nearby Schwartau . The associated office building was on the spot where the district court on Schwartauer Markt stands today.

In 1806, the Lübeck bishopric was converted into the Principality of Lübeck by the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss - this resulted in the transfer of all properties of the Lübeck Cathedral Chapter ( Großvogtei ) to the newly formed Principality of Lübeck.

In 1819 the office included Kaltenhof

In 1843 the Kaltenhof Office and the (also in Schwartau ) resident Grand Bailiwick were merged to form the Schwartau Office - triggered by the exchange of territory between the Principality of Lübeck and Holstein agreed in the Plön Treaty of 1842 to clean up the scattered possessions.
