Office Schwartau
The office of Schwartau was one (of the four) administrative districts of the Principality of Lübeck with its seat in Schwartau .
The Schwartau office was created in 1843 by amalgamating the Kaltenhof and Großvogtei offices (already resident in Schwartau) (possessions of the Lübeck Cathedral Chapter) - triggered by the exchange of territory between the Principality of Lübeck and Holstein in the Plön Treaty of 1842 to clear up the scattered possessions.
The prerequisite was the transfer of all properties of the Lübeck Cathedral Chapter (Grand Vogtei) to the Principality of Lübeck, which was newly formed from the Lübeck bishopric, as agreed in the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss 1803 .
After the new Oldenburg municipal code came into force on November 1, 1859, the Schwartau office was responsible for the administration of the following municipalities
- Spots Schwartau
- community Gleschendorf
- Rensefeld municipality
- Municipality East Ratekau
- Municipality West Ratekau
- Community Obernwohlde
In 1867 the Stockelsdorf community came to the Schwartau district.
In 1879 the Schwartau office was dissolved. The tasks of the court were taken over by the district court of Schwartau on the basis of the Reich justice laws , while the other powers were transferred to the government of the Principality of Lübeck in Eutin .
The office Schwartau comprised the administrative district of the dissolved district court Bad Schwartau .
