Sereetz

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sereetz is a village within the municipality of Ratekau ( Ostholstein district , Schleswig-Holstein). With 4,569 inhabitants (as of June 2005), Sereetz is the largest village in the district.

location

Sereetz is about 7 km north of Lübeck city center as the crow flies . Since the construction of the motorway interchange Bad Schwartau the place in the West is limited by the motorway A1 (Lübeck-Puttgarden) and in the south by the A 226 (Travemuende). It also borders the Lübeck boroughs Dänischburg and Siems in the south . The natural connection to the Schwartauer Markt (via Kaltenhöfer Straße) was interrupted by the construction of the aforementioned motorways.

history

The first written mention is in a document dated February 22, 1247, in which the Holstein counts Johann III. and Gerhard III. confirm the limits of the place. Since this document already mentions a village ( ville serez ), the origins of the settlement go back even further. There is also evidence of a mill located on the Schwartau river since the 13th century . After the river was straightened in the 1930s, only oxbow lakes can be found in Sereetz.

Infrastructure

A very large number of Sereetz professionals work in Bad Schwartau or Lübeck . The Lübeck-Dänischburg plant of Villeroy & Boch Keramische Werke was one of the largest employers in Lübeck until 1980 and was easily accessible by bike from Sereetz.

The orientation towards Bad Schwartau and Lübeck can be seen in further details:

  • the Lübeck prefix 0451 also applies to Bad Schwartau, Stockelsdorf and Sereetz
  • the zip code 23611 (as previously also 2407) is the same for Bad Schwartau and Sereetz
  • the public transport is mainly by bus to the city traffic Luebeck GmbH
  • School traffic to Bad Schwartau in the morning requires the use of additional buses

Bad Schwartau and Stockelsdorf form an agglomeration with Lübeck (see there). This question also arises for Sereetz, because between the place-name signs for Sereetz and Lübeck-Dänischburg there is only the A 226 and an intersection, which is described in more detail under Federal Motorway 226 .

From around 1960, there was extensive multi-storey development in the Hamburger Strasse / Berliner Strasse area, including a high-rise.
