Danish Castle

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dänischburg forms together with the districts Siems , Rangenberg and Wallberg the urban district 27 of the Lübeck district of Kücknitz .

In the 20th century, several industrial companies settled in the district ( Villeroy & Boch , Guano works and Triangle works).

geography

The district is located on the northern bank of the Trave , only a small part of which has been built over - so Dänischburg has natural access to the Trave. The district road K9, the Dänischburger Landstrasse, runs through Dänischburg as the main traffic axis.

To the south, Dänischburg is bounded by the Trave. To the north, the forest area Dänischburger Forst and the community Ratekau with the village Sereetz and the federal highway 226 connect . The Dänischburger Hof can also be found here - just before the start of the forest. To the west follows the town of Bad Schwartau , to the east the Siems district, also characterized by industrial companies.

history

The Hanseatic city of Lübeck has its origins west of Dänischburg. At the mouth of the Schwartau, the Slavic castle Liubice was built in 819 AD .

The name Dänischburg is probably due to the Danish King Waldemar II , who had two towers built in 1234 to block shipping. The towers were near the town of Dänischburg. The village of Dänischburg was first mentioned in a document in 1299.

In 1900 the industrial association from Lübeck relocated the Lübeck sulfuric acid and superphosphate factory in Dänischburg. The name changed after the First World War through a merger in Guano-Werke. The company Villeroy & Boch built its factory in Dänischburg from 1906. The first school was built in 1909 - the Luisenhof elementary school. The St. Paul Chapel was consecrated on May 27, 1965.

On October 20, 2000, the Danishburg youth club was opened. The youth club on the Villeroy - & - Boch site goes back to an initiative by young people. At the end of 1999, with a list of signatures, you asked for a meeting point to be set up for yourself.

The Villeroy & Boch site was sold to IKEA at the beginning of 2010 . In the following years the plant was completely demolished. An IKEA store with an adjacent shopping center was then built, the LUV shopping center. It has several retail businesses and was IKEA's first attempt to combine a mall with an IKEA market.

Local public transport

Dänischburg is served by the Lübeck-Travemünder Verkehrsgesellschaft with bus line 33 in the direction of Travemünde or Bad Schwartau. With line 10 to Wesloe and Sereetz der Stadtverkehr, Dänischburg has another connection - this connection was realized after the opening of the shopping center.

With the timetable change on December 14, 2014, the railway station Dänischburg, which was closed in 1986, was reopened as the Lübeck-Dänischburg IKEA station on the Lübeck – Lübeck-Travemünde Strand railway line . The new breakpoint was initiated and financed by IKEA. It is located in the immediate vicinity of the former Villeroy & Boch site. As a rule, it is approached every hour in both directions.

Organization and clubs

The Danishburg Volunteer Fire Brigade was founded on February 19, 1922 and is based in Schäferkamp. Together with the Lübeck professional fire brigade, the brigade is responsible for security in Dänischburg and the surrounding area. The weir also has a youth fire brigade, which was founded in 1987.

TSV Dänischburg has its home at the sports field at the railway barriers on Dänischburger Landstrasse.
