Innocentia

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Innocentia (* between 285 and 288 ; † between 303 and 305 ; sometimes with the nickname of Rimini ) is according to early Christian representation a martyr from the 4th century . Her feast day is September 16 . There is no evidence of her life.

Life

Little is known about her life. According to tradition, she may be identical to the daughter of Severus of Ravenna . She could have been beheaded at the age of 17 during the persecution of Christians under Diocletian . The veneration of the saints can be proven in Rimini before the year 1000.

In Christian iconography , Innocentia is usually represented with a martyr's crown. If one follows the identity with the daughter of Severus, she is also shown on the cover plate of the sarcophagus of Severus in the Severikirche in Erfurt . There she stands, crowned and praying, next to Severus and Vincentia .
