Massive tones is a German hip-hop - group . It was founded by Schowi , Ju , Wasi and DJ 5ter Ton in 1991 in Stuttgart .
history
The four founding members from the Stuttgart hip-hop scene initially orientated themselves on American and French role models such as Beastie Boys , Public Enemy and Ultramagnetic MC’s before they found their own style. In 1993 they joined forces with other hip-hop musicians, breakdancers and graffiti artists to form the Stuttgart collective farm . Besides Massive Töne, Afrob , Freundeskreis , DJ Thomilla and Breite Seite were the most famous members. In the years 1994 to 1995 Massive Töne appeared as guests or opening act on most of the major hip-hop concerts; The best known are the touring class of 94 and class of 95 ( MZEE ), where they worked with Fettes Brot , Spax , Absolute Beginner , the Stieber Twins , MC Rene and others.
The 1996 debut album Kopfnicker (MZEE), which made their name known throughout the scene, is still considered the most important of the group today. In 1998 they switched to the major label Eastwest and produced the single Bewegungs , the video of which was a success in Germany. They recorded tracks together with well-known artists such as Blahzay Blahzay or the French hip-hop group IAM , thus creating a total of four single releases from their 1999 album Überfall , which became the group's most successful album. The song 2Mille was recorded for the French action comedy Taxi Taxi (2000) .
In 2000 the group split from Wasi . This was followed by the establishment of her own label, Kopfnicker Records . Headnicker Records - the album - was released as a label portrait in the same year . In 2002, the album MT3 was released , whose single Cruisen reached number 5 in the charts. The content of the 14 tracks on the album is far apart, from the pure party hits like Im Club to socially critical songs like Deutschland, Deutschland .
In 2005, the last album so far, Back to the Future , was released, but it was unable to build on the commercial success of the two previous albums.
On February 9, 2006, Massive Töne represented Baden-Württemberg with the title Mein Job at the Bundesvision Song Contest and achieved 9th place with 47 points.
On July 18, 2015, Massive Töne played some of their most successful songs as one of two surprise guests at the last HipHop Open in Stuttgart in front of headliner Marsimoto , such as Traumreise, Cruisen, and the mother city dedicated to the city of Stuttgart .
In August 2015, Ju emigrated to Lisbon , Portugal .
