The Beginner (until 2003 known as Absolute Beginner ) are a hip-hop - music group from Hamburg Hamburg-Nord , consisting of Jan Delay , Dennis Lisk (aka Denyo) and Guido Weiss (aka DJ Mad).

Band history

At the time of its founding in the 1990s, the band consisted of four other members (DJ Burn, Nabil Sheikh, Mirko and Platin Martin) who jointly produced English rap under the name Absolute Beginners . They later switched to German , added their band name to match, and called themselves Absolute Beginner from then on . In 1994 the EP Gotting was the first sound carrier with socially critical texts. On their debut album Flashnizm there were only four of them (Eizi Eiz, Denyo, DJ Mad and Mardin). Mardin left the band when the absolute beginners were signed by the major label Universal / Motor . Their commercial breakthrough came in 1998 with the album Bambule . Her first single releases from it were Rock On , Liebes Lied , Hammerhart and Füchse . Bambule sold over 250,000 times, so it was awarded gold in 2000. Since 2003 they have only operated under the name Beginner ; in the same year the album Blast Action Heroes was released .

At the beginning of December 2004 the band DVD Die derbste Band der Welt was released , which contains music videos and a documentary about the beginners as well as live recordings of concerts. In the same year, The Early Years 1992-1994 (We were young and didn't need money), an album with early recordings including the Gotting EP. As the producer of all albums, Matthias Arfmann is also a key element of the beginners. Although he is not a member of the group, he is still named the beginner in the chorus of Hammerhart, for example, in the same move as the three members.

On September 10, 2011, the beginners made their live comeback during the Berlin Festival. The unofficial comeback after more than seven years of abstinence from the stage took place the day before as part of the “catch a fire” concert series in Ulm . However, since it was advertised that the only beginners' concert should take place in 2011 at the Berlin Festival, the beginners in Ulm were announced as "Eizi Eiz, Denyo and DJ Mad".

In May 2016, Eißfeldt announced on Twitter that the album planned for August 2016 would be called Advanced Chemistry , identical to the name of the Heidelberg hip-hop formation Advanced Chemistry . On June 3, the beginners published the video for Ahnma , their first single from the new album, followed by the second video "Once upon a time ..." on August 12. The album was finally released on August 26th.

The 2016/2017 tour was accompanied and opened by the German hip-hop pioneer Torch from the Heidelberg hip-hop formation Advanced Chemistry .
