René El Khazraje (born September 11, 1976 in Braunschweig ) is a German - Moroccan rapper and stand-up comedian . The Süddeutsche Zeitung described him in 2015 as a hip-hop "artist from the second row, [who] may have sold fewer records, but shaped the scene all the more and more sustainably in the 90s".

Life

MC Rene gained his first live experience in 1991 at a few hip-hop jams . As a rapper, Rene was active at the time with the group State of Departmentz , which released their first song in 1993 on the sampler That's Real Underground . He quickly made a name for himself among the hip-hop artists who had been active in Germany since the early 1980s. The ambiguous situation resulting from this became clear in the title, which MC Rene contributed to the old school sampler ( MZEE ) in 1993 , The New Rhyming Generation . Shortly afterwards he went on tour with Advanced Chemistry .

The next year the class of '94 appeared consisting of him, Absolute Beginner and Main Concept . Rene released his first single, Reimenergie, on MZEE Records that year . This was followed by the tour with the class from '95 , a sampler was released including Der Tobi & das Bo , Massive Töne , FAB , Stieber Twins , Beginner , Spax , Main Concept and Fettes Brot . In the same year his debut album Renevolution ( MZEE ) was released. After a few tours and freestyle cups, there were two more video clips that ran on German music television in rotation.

1999-2005

The change to another label was not possible at the time because his old contract with MZEE was frozen for a long time. His label MZEE only released the best-of album Reneflektion in 1999 , which contained old and new tracks. Eventually he was bought out of the contract with MZEE by BMG , which is why his feature could appear on DJ Tomekks 1, 2, 3 ... Rhymes Galore . The video for it was successful and the contribution on the Blumentopf -Album Großes Kino seemed to indicate a comeback. In 1999 MC Rene released his own tape called Bernd , on which he presented entertaining freestyles, skits and some of his best lyrics.

In 2000 a new single was released for the first time in four years: I would do anything for you . Shortly afterwards he released his more commercial album called Bernd , which had no major success. In the scene it was criticized because of the "cuddly" beats and the Frankfurt rapper Azad dissed him in the piece Gegen den Strom . At this time he began working as a presenter of the hip-hop magazine Mixery Raw Deluxe , which was run on VIVA and which he presented from 2000 to 2001.

In 2001 Rene switched to the Improversum label and produced his third album with Django, which was released the following year: Fuck your hip hop . After that, apart from the continued argument with Azad (with Gegen den Gnom or MC U Reen ) and individual appearances on samplers, no publications followed.

His unpopularity increased through appearances as a comedy DJ in the VIVA show by Oliver Pocher and his participation in the hip-hop edition of the Tatort show , which was ridiculed in the scene. In response to the announcement of the Disstracks sliding from Joe , which is probably based on a rumor and some previous provocations by MC Rene in the VIVA telecast Mixery Raw Deluxe , published Kool Savas in 2003 together with his then-discovery Eko Fresh to Disstrack Renexekution , which had a detrimental effect on Rene's perception in the German hip-hop scene. After the solo career of Eko Fresh after the separation from Kool Savas was initially not so successful, MC Rene responded with the track McDonalds rapper on Renexekution , in which he made fun of Eko Fresh in his special style.

From 2005 he called himself Reen after a two and a half year break. His comeback single was titled Reen's World / The Unveiling . This was preceded by Rene's mention in Kool Savas' The Judgment and the founding of his own label Marraca $ h Music. On December 14, 2005, MC Rene released his solo album The Last Moroccan on Marraca $ h Music. The album Smells like Reen Spirit , announced for winter 2006/07 , did not appear.

Since 2010

Since April 2010 Rene blogged (now without the addition "MC") about his career as a stand-up comedian. The book MC Rene was published on May 2, 2012 . Everything on one card - see you on the train , which is about his time as a "railway nomad". In it, Rene describes how he quit his apartment and traveled through Germany by train for a year with a Bahncard 100 to advance his career as a stand-up comedian. The blog with the same topic was shut down when the book was published.

In the music video Dunk the Lord of the Actress, singer and comedian Carolin Kebekus , censored by WDR , he appears as a rapping pastor.

On June 14, 2013, an audio book by Alles auf ein Karte was published with six new songs as a bonus on a USB stick. A video for Mein Leben ist ein Freestyle was shot in Heidelberg for the publication . a. Torch , Toni L. and the Stieber Twins can be seen.

On March 20, 2015, the album Renessance was released , which was produced in collaboration with Carl Crinx and also made it into the album charts. He then went on tour in Germany.

On October 21, 2016 the album Khazraje , which was produced by Figub Brazlevič, was released.

His most recent album Master of Ceremony was released on March 22, 2019 .
