Military career

In May 1793 Kurowski came as a private corporal in the Dragoon Regiment "von Werther" of the Prussian Army . There he was promoted to prime lieutenant until mid-November 1805 . He took part in the Fourth Coalition War and was still a staff captain on June 2, 1807 , before retiring from service on November 16, 1807 with half pay . On November 9, 1808, he got his farewell as a Major with permission to wear the army uniform. Kurowski bought the Groß-Glitten estate (Friedland district) and lived there. In the run-up to the Wars of Liberation , he sold the estate in 1813, rejoined the army and on June 1, 1813 was employed as a major and commander in the 4th East Prussian Landwehr Cavalry Regiment. During the Wars of Liberation he fought in the sieges of Danzig and Magdeburg. On January 1, 1815, he was awarded the Iron Cross 2nd class for Magdeburg and on October 3, 1815, he was promoted to lieutenant colonel.

Due to his knowledge of horses, Kurowski was appointed President of the Remonte Buying Commission on June 30, 1816 and aggregated to the 6th Uhlan Regiment . On June 20, 1817 he was aggregated to the 3rd Cuirassier Regiment. On March 5, 1821, he was transferred to the 2nd cuirassier regiment "Queen" as a commander and was promoted to colonel on March 30, 1821 with a patent from April 8, 1821 . On March 20, 1833, he received his retirement as major general with a pension of 1750 thalers. He died on June 25, 1835 in Pasewalk.

His death was the aftermath of a cholera epidemic that broke out in the garrison in Nakel in 1833. The doctor in charge, Julius Leviseur, treated his patients with a drug that the colonel at the time was taking for prevention . As a result, his health deteriorated. Ultimately, he had to say goodbye and died two years later.
