Christoph Paulssen

Christoph Paulssen (born October 1, 1963 in Darmstadt ) is a German music producer , composer and musician . He is a founding member of the music and media production company Christine Musics , the Blue Box recording studio and the bands Jay and The Art of Jazztainment .

life and career

Christoph Paulssen grew up in Darmstadt as the child of a teacher and a lawyer. After graduating from high school, he successfully completed cello training at the Academy of Music in Darmstadt and then studied music at the Hamburg University of Music and Performing Arts . From 1985 to 1988 Paulssen played bass in the ensemble of the Darmstadt State Theater .

He has been a freelance musician, producer and composer since 1990. With his band Twice as Nice , Paulssen received his first record deal with BMG Ariola in 1991 and released the first LP Room with a View . In 1992 the band switched to WEA Records and released two more LPs. In 1994 the band broke up. In 1993 Paulssen founded the band Jay and released several LPs between 1993 and 2003.

Christoph Paulssen has been the bassist for the band Black & White Cooperation since 1996 . Other band members are Anke Schimpf (saxophone), Tom Nicholas (percussion) and Georg Göb (piano). The two albums Musics (2001) and Synergies (2009) have been released on the Christine Records label.

He expanded his field of activity to music production from 1992 as part of the co-producer role for Twice as Nice. After 1994 many CD productions, advertising and film music followed on my own responsibility. His ability to adequately understand almost every musical style and to develop competitive products led to collaborations with, among others, Roger Cicero , Culcha Candela , Peter Maffay , Mbenta Kanna, Dono Ade, Kick la Luna, Edo Zanki , Lunazul, Aziz Kujateh, Konni Keller , Götz Alsmann , Nosie Katzmann , Ina Deter . This empathy is also the prerequisite for his commitment in connection with the TV casting documentary soap Dein Song 2008 and 2009, in which he was responsible for the success of the music productions on behalf of ZDF / KIKA . Paulssen, with his company Christine Musics and in cooperation with David Lang and the music producer Peter Hoffmann, was responsible for the music production of the third season of Dein Song 2011 . As part of this season of the Dein Song composer's competition , he worked with well-known artists such as Klaus Doldinger , the Fauré Quartet , Wolfgang Niedecken and Unheilig . Other artists this season were Monrose , Stanfour , Cascada and Ria von Eisblume .

Together with Anke Schimpf, he developed the sound design for the 3D video installation Farb I Raum by the artist Willi Bucher. Willi Bucher was u. a. represented with this installation at art Karlsruhe 2011 .

Film music

Christoph Paulssen produced the film music for the television productions Gebt die Hand und verzeiht (2003, BR , HR , Arte , 3sat ) and The Two Lives of Anja Lundholm (2007, ARD ). Together with David Lang, Paulssen composed the score for the feature film Ein Sommernachtsalptraum (2005) and the music for Tom Sawyer (2006) and Huckleberry Finn (2006) for the Papagenotheater in Frankfurt am Main.
