The Art Karlsruhe (proper spelling art KARLSRUHE ) is an international art show for Modern Art and Contemporary Art in Karlsruhe . It is from the Karlsruher Messe und Kongress GmbH annually since 2004 in February on the grounds of Messe Karlsruhe performed.

The fair

The initiator of the art fair was the then fair managing director Claus Hähnel. The gallery owner Ewald Karl Schrade has been the curator since the beginning . In four pillar-free exhibition halls, galleries offer works by contemporary and modern artists from the fields of painting, sculpture, editions, photography, objects and installations for sale on 35,000 m² of exhibition space . The floor plan includes sculpture spaces, one-artist shows (a single artist is given 25 m² of exhibition space) and relaxation areas.

ARTIMA art meeting

As an accompanying program, an information forum has been held on two days of the fair since 2006. In 2008, its funding was taken over by an art insurance company and has been continued under the name ARTIMA art meeting ever since . Those interested are offered panel discussions on issues relating to the contemporary art business. So far, topics have included the relationship between art and the market, the situation of art criticism and the conditions of art production. Participants in the talks are on the one hand representatives of the international art market: artists, collectors, gallery owners, museum directors, art journalists, etc., and on the other hand moderators such as Dorothee Baer-Bogenschütz, Karlheinz Schmid or Hans Joachim Müller.

Special shows

Special exhibitions are also presented every year.
