Guillaume Bruère (* 1976 in Châtellerault , Poitou-Charentes , France ) is a French painter , draftsman , sculptor and performance artist . He lives and works in Berlin.

Life

Trained in France at the École des Beaux-Arts in Nantes and the École européenne supérieure de l'image in Poitiers, his first work cycles were created in the great museums of Europe: He drew in various collections in Vienna, in the Berlin Gemäldegalerie , at the Fondation Vincent van Gogh Arles, later in the Paula-Modersohn-Becker Museum Bremen, in the MARTa Herford and at many other institutions in front of the portraits of old masters. He transformed them into completely independent snapshots of people who are no longer remembered by us as individuals, but have become iconic part of our visual memory and understanding of culture.
