Gregor Fabian Meyle (born October 13, 1978 in Backnang ) is a German musician . At the end of 2007 broadcasted by ProSieben singing casting show SSDSDSSWEMUGABRTLAD he took second place. In the spring of 2014 he and six other musicians took part in the series Sing mein Song - Das Tauschkonzert broadcast by VOX .
Life
Childhood and youth
Meyle, who grew up in Jagsthausen , was given his first guitar at the age of four. A year later he was on stage for the first time in Caux . In a mouse costume, he sang the nursery rhyme If You're Happy and You Know It in front of 400 people . When he reached school age, he received guitar lessons. At the age of twelve he became a member of the band Young Guns , which appeared with cover versions of the American rock band Guns N 'Roses . At the same time he wrote his first songs. He later worked in a guitar shop next to school and gave guitar lessons himself. At the age of 16 he founded his first band, Crack Fabian , with whom he recorded his first album Early Days . At the Burgfestspiele Jagsthausen he appeared as court musician in The Servant of Two Lords and contributed four specially composed classical guitar pieces.
After graduating from secondary school, he did internships as a sound assistant at ARRI TV and at the Heilbronn City Theater for two years and then did his community service . Since 2001 he has been working as a freelance sound engineer . At the same time he played together with his younger brother Felix in the band Meyle .
Musical career
In the summer of 2007 Meyle applied as a singer for the casting competition SSDSDSSWEMUGABRTLAD, which was conceived by Stefan Raab as part of his TV show TV total (Stefan is looking for the superstar who should sing what he wants and who is also allowed to perform on RTL) and was accepted by the organizers as one of the 20 participants in the decision shows was selected. There he qualified for the final shows with an interpretation of Your Body Is a Wonderland , originally by John Mayer . In the following rounds, Meyle was the only participant to perform exclusively with self-written ballads. With his songs he made it into the final of the best four and lost there on January 10, 2008 in the televoting of the Swiss Stefanie Heinzmann .
The day after the final, Meyle's final song Nobody appeared on an EP along with the songs of the other three finalists . Three weeks later he released the song as a separate single. On March 28, 2008, Meyle's first album was released, the title song of which was also used in the soundtrack of the movie Der Rote Baron by Nikolai Müllerschön . The producer was Claus Fischer , the former bass player for the band Heavytones . The album and both singles were able to place themselves in the charts of the German-speaking countries. Then Meyle went on tour in Germany.
In order to be independent of existing recording companies, Meyle founded his own record company Meylemusic. His second album Meylenweit and the live album Laut und leise were released there . In 2012 he published his third studio album Meile for Meyle and his first book Songs for Feinschmecker . While Meylenweit was still in the charts in Germany, Meile could no longer place itself for Meyle .
In spring 2014, at the invitation of Xavier Naidoo , Gregor Meyle took part in the series Sing mein Song - Das Tauschkonzert broadcast by the TV station VOX together with Roger Cicero , Sarah Connor , Andreas Gabalier , Sandra Nasić and Sasha . The success of the show had a special effect on him. His fourth album New York - Stintino , which was released in March , entered the top ten of the charts and all three previous studio albums also made it into the top ten. Three of his songs as well as a cover version of Sunday Lover by the Guano Apes sung by him on the show hit the single charts. The version of Meyle's composition, Keine ist wie du , performed by Sarah Connor - lyrically adapted as Keiner ist wie du - reached number 12 in the German single charts in June 2014.
This very song was sung a little later in the fourth season of The Voice of Germany by a candidate in the blind auditions . Meyle, who was present at the invitation of the management, then came on stage from the audience and sang again with the successful candidate. After this gig was broadcast in October, Keine ist wie du rose to number 1 on the iTunes charts and then reached number 2 on the official single charts in Germany.
In 2015, Meyle took part in the program Dein Song , a songwriting competition for children on the TV channel KiKA, as a music sponsor . In May 2015 the series Meylensteine of the TV station VOX began , in which Meyle visits German-speaking singers and sings some of their songs with them. The second season of Meylensteine began in April 2017 . Due to low audience ratings, it was moved to a different slot after the first episode. It ran since the end of May 2017 on the late evening of the broadcast day of the fourth season of Sing my song - The exchange concert . Following the fifth season of Sing mein Song 2018, reruns will be broadcast.
In the second season of the ProSieben show The Masked Singer , he took third place in 2020. During the show, he wore the costume of the dragon . The show had to be interrupted for two weeks in the meantime because the singer was sick with Covid-19 .
