Combat is an American thrash metal band from New York City , New York that was formed in 1984, renamed itself Napalm in 1986 , and disbanded in 1990, and reunited as Combat in 2000.
history
The band was founded in 1984 by the brothers Rex (drums) and Jeff Rossbach (electric guitar). Shortly afterwards, bassist and singer Chris “The Monarch” Weidner joined the band. Through the acquaintance of Joe Leonard, an employee at Combat Records , the group reached a contract with this label, on the condition that they change their name, as the label did not want to record a band of the same name. A previously recorded demo was released as an EP in 1986 under the name Bootcamp . The band then went into the studio to record their debut album and released it in 1989 under the name Cruel Tranquility on SPV , followed by Zero to Black in 1990 . Weidner could not be heard on the second album, as he was replaced by Chris Liggio, who had now also taken over the vocals and was represented as the new bassist Brett Roth. After the release of the album, due to the strong changes in the line-up, Napalm broke up. In 2002 the group reunited under the name Combat and in 2007 released the album Ruination .
style
The band plays classic Thrash Metal, with elements from Hardcore Punk also being audible.
