Combat Records is an independent label from New York City that mainly specializes in metal and punk . The label had bands like Megadeth , Circle Jerks , Nuclear Assault , Death , Dead Brain Cells , Possessed , Crumbsuckers , Agnostic Front , Agent Steel , Dark Angel , Heathen , Zoetrope and Exodus under contract.

history

Combat Records was the in-house metal label of Important Record Distributors . This label had many stores across the United States to promote and sell Combat's releases. Important Records was also home to Megaforce Records in the mid-80s, producing Kill 'Em All and Ride the Lightning by Metallica (before Metallica switched to Elektra Records ), Fistful of Metal by Anthrax and many other releases. Important Records also introduced some new labels to the US, such as B. Noise Records ( Celtic Frost , Helloween and Running Wild ), Neat Records ( Venom , Raven ) and Metal Blade Records ( Slayer and Trouble ). Publications were usually marked with the Combat logo.

In November 1984 the label signed the thrash metal band Megadeth . The band released Killing Is My Business… And Business Is Good! In 1985 . , her first album. Capitol Records signed Megadeth in 1985, which gave them the rights to Megadeth's second album Peace Sells ... But Who's Buying? received. However, the Combat logo appeared on the back of every Megadeth album released on Capitol until Countdown to Extinction .

Downfall of the label

Combat Records was later taken over by Relativity Records , which in turn was owned by Sony Music Entertainment . Relativity Records allowed Combat Records to exist for a short time before Combat Records ceased to exist entirely. Later Sony should also dissolve Relativity Records.

Rebirth

Combat Records was re-established in 2005, under the direction of KOCH Records , to release albums from Look What I Did , Horse the Band and At All Cost .
