The Rods is an American heavy metal band from Cortland , New York .

history

The band was founded by David "Rock" Feinstein, a cousin of Ronnie James Dio (including Black Sabbath and Rainbow ), who was previously active as a guitarist with the band Elf . In 1980 the debut album Rock Hard was released via Primal , which was re-released in a similar, slightly revised form in 1981 as The Rods via Arista Records . This album is one of the rock classics today. After another three albums, the band broke up in the late 1980s.

In August 2006 the band got together again and began working on a new studio album. This has already been fully recorded and should appear in spring 2009. The new album wasn't released until 2011 and is called Vengeance . It is noteworthy that Feinstein's cousin Ronnie James Dio sang a song.
