Rigs of Rods is simulation software with an open source license that can be used to control various types of vehicles, such as cars, airplanes, ships and, to a limited extent, locomotives and elevated railways through a virtual world. Crash tests can also be carried out and the vehicles can be allowed to collide with the terrain, buildings, obstacles and other vehicles controlled by other players.
use
The game has no specific, fixed goal. The vehicles can be experimented with without restriction. You can select certain maps that have been pre-installed or downloaded. The texture of these maps is determined by the RAW format , the terrain and possible objects by different files. Sometimes buildings or airfields are also available for aircraft to take off. It is also possible with third-party programs to create your own maps and use them in Rigs of Rods .
Engine
The game runs on the open source engine OGRE , which is primarily responsible for the graphics in the game.
history
The software started in mid-2009 and was developed by Pierre-Michel Ricordel up to version 0.28. A development group has been involved in the programming since this version.
