Horse the Band is an experimental American post-hardcore / metalcore - band from Lake Forest , California . The band uses synthesizers to create an 8-bit sound that is said to be reminiscent of old Nintendo consoles. The band calls this sound Nintendocore .
There are references to certain Nintendo characters in three songs by the band: Cutman from the NES game Mega Man in the song Cutsman ; Birdo, one of the bosses from Super Mario Bros. 2 in the song Birdo ; Nemesis from The Legend of Zelda in the song Pol's Voice . According to the singer Nathan Winneke, however, not all song lyrics refer to Nintendo characters: “ […] There are only three of our songs which reference Nintendo characters. I was reading some review of our new album and this guy was trying to link all our songs to Nintendo, I was like, 'What the fuck !?' ”.
After the end of the tour with the bands The Fall of Troy , Poison the Well and Criteria, Horse the Band were with Gatsby's American Dream, Portugal, from May 28, 2006 . The Man and Forgive Durden on tour. In 2008 the band went on a major world tour with performances in 45 countries that they organized completely themselves and with the help of their fans.
