The Fall of Troy ( Engl. For the fall of Troy ) is an American band from Mukilteo , Washington , whose style between post-hardcore and progressive rock -Bands like At the Drive-In , The Mars Volta and The Blood Brothers moved. However, the sound stands out noticeably from the bands mentioned above.

The band was founded by the three youngsters Thomas Erak ( guitar , vocals ), Tim Ward ( bass , vocals) and Andrew Forsman ( drums ), who were joined by Jesse Erickson ( keyboard ) towards the end of 2003 , who, however, shortly afterwards the Band left again. In November 2007 Tim Ward left the band after a short tour break and was replaced by Frank Ene on bass . At first glance, the unusually fast and complex guitar riffs seem to stand out from their music. With many effects, such as loops, they provide a fuller listening impression, which initially gives the listener the impression of a band with several guitars.

The Fall of Troy is the second name of this American band, previously called The Thirty Years War . Two albums were recorded under the first name, which were released without the support of a label. On the occasion of the departure of second guitarist Mike Munro, the name change took place. A little later, the band, whose members were all less than 17 years old at the time, recorded their debut album as The Fall of Troy in a five-day studio session. This was on the Label Lujo Records published. Commercial success failed to materialize, while The Fall of Troy developed a certain underground image in the north-west of the USA.

In early 2005 the band signed a contract with the Equal Vision Records label . With producer Barrett Jones ( Nirvana , Foo Fighters , Melvins ) they then recorded their album Doppelganger , which contains four new versions of songs from the debut record as well as seven new songs. The Fall of Troy then also played in Europe as the opening act for, for example, The Bled and Fear Before the March of Flames , with success that was still limited but widespread .

On May 18, 2007, the band released the album Manipulator ( Equal Vision Records ).

Shortly afterwards, Thomas Erak stated in an interview that a split EP with The Number Twelve Looks Like You was planned. The realization of this ambitious project could prove difficult, however, as the two bands are under contract with different labels .

In 2007, The Fall of Troy contributed the song FCPREMIX to the music game Guitar Hero 3: Legends of Rock .

In November 2007 Thomas Erak announced that Tim Ward was taking a break from the tour and would be replaced by bassist Frank Black of the San Diego band ... Of Stalewart Fads . A short time later it was announced that he would now permanently take the place of the bass player .

In November 2008, The Fall of Troy published a re-release of the Ghostship Demos under the title Phantom on the Horizon by Equal Vision Records, limited to 3000 copies , which are only sold on the West Coast tour and in the internet store. The album is divided into five chapters, each of which merges into one another through interludes.

Less than half a year after the release of their last album, In the Unlikely Event , Thomas Erak announced on February 26, 2010 that the band would no longer exist.

In February 2014 the band announced they were working on new songs. In April 2016, the completely self-recorded studio album OK was released based on the pay-what-you-want model.
