Republication

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A re-release ( English re-release or Reissue ) is a re- publication of an audio medium , film or a video game .

Reasons for republication can be an expanded version of the original - e.g. B. with additional songs - or a change of record label , which re-releases the older albums of the artist. A re-publication with new songs is often published relatively soon after the original edition in order to stimulate consumption again and to favor a possible chart placement . Furthermore, recordings of inferior quality are often remastered and mixed .

Record labels such as Rhino Records or Legacy Recordings specialize in re-publishing.
