style

Stylistically, the album builds on its predecessor. Helloween play Power Metal with catchy choruses and riffs as well as lots of melodic guitar solos. There are mainly fast and hard pieces, but also catchy pieces of medium tempo and two ballads. The Time of the Oath is a concept album about the prophecies of Nostradamus .

reception

The album was largely positively received by the press. Jan Michael Dix from Rock Hard criticizes Andi Deris ' singing style, which does not always fit the music, and he can “hardly avoid the impression that the band is not determined enough to exhaust its possibilities”. Nevertheless, he praises the modern sound, the original structures and considers The Time of the Oath to be “a very good album”. Marcel Rapp also mentions on powermetal.de "the great voice of Andi Deris, which is perfect for mid-tempo songs, but shows clear weaknesses when it comes to high-speed blasts [...], although the songs in themselves are terrific." Overall, it is "a record with good songwriting, catchy riffs and catchy songs".
