Life

In the 1980s and early 1990s, Kusch mainly worked as a studio musician for bands such as Holy Moses and Schmier's Destruction - successor band Headhunter . In 1990 he replaced Mathias Burchardt at Gamma Ray and played on their album Sigh No More and the tour that followed, but left the band in 1992. In 1993 he joined Ax La Chapelle and then switched to Helloween, where he stayed as a permanent drummer from the 1994 album Master of the Rings to the 2000 album The Dark Ride . During this time he was also a band member of the Rainbow - cover band Catch the Rainbow with Henjo Richter of Gamma Ray and drummer Markus Grosskopf's side project Shockmachine. He also played on the Sinner album The End of Sanctuary (2000). Following The Dark Ride , both Kusch and Roland Grapow , both main songwriters at Helloween at the time, were fired by Michael Weikath .

The two then founded the band Masterplan, which they had originally planned as a side project. The band released two albums, then Kusch parted ways with Masterplan. In 2005 he formed Beautiful Sin which became his main project after the split. He also founded the progressive metal band Ride the Sky . He also starred as Patrick Duval on the album Lurking Fear of Mekong Delta .

In 2010 he joined Symfonia , a supergroup around André Matos ( Angra ), Timo Tolkki ( Stratovarius ), Jari Kainulainen (Stratovarius, Evergrey ) and Mikko Härkin ( Sonata Arctica , Kotipelto ). The first appearance took place at the Finnish Metal Expo 2011. In 2011 the album In Paradisum was released . While preparing for the tour, Kusch suffered nerve damage in his left hand and could no longer play the drums. The band continued with Alex Landenburg, Kusch paused and worked on his rehabilitation. In 2014 he returned as the drummer of the Swedish formation Carnal Agony . Their debut album Preludes & Nocturnes was released on November 14, 2014.
