Metal Jukebox is a cover album by the German metal band Helloween . It was published by Castle Communications in 1999.

Emergence

In order to fulfill the five-album contract with Castle Communications, the band decided against the best-of album proposed by the record company and recorded a cover album. It was recorded in Hamburg and Tenerife and produced by the band itself. The album was not promoted by a tour, but a single was released in Japan ( Lay All Your Love on Me ).

Music genre

On Metal Jukebox , the band mainly covers pieces from rock music from the 1970s. The album therefore sounds less like Power Metal , although most of the songs have been adjusted to the Helloween-typical sound.

reception

Jason Hundey from Allmusic thinks the album is fun, even if not all cover versions are successful. Individual songs were also criticized in Metal Hammer and Rock Hard , but the entertainment value for fans or open-minded listeners was emphasized.
