Gambling with the Devil is the twelfth studio album by Helloween . It was released by Steamhammer (SPV) in 2007.

Music genre

The style of the album does not continue the line taken by Keeper Of The Seven Keys - The Legacy . Helloween tends to tie in with the harder older pieces. The individual pieces are also deliberately kept shorter than in the more bombastic previous albums. The development is clearly going in the direction of Power Metal.

meaning

The album represents a departure from the previous development and is again much heavier. The musical mood has become noticeably more melancholy and dark.

The album was again a great success for the band and reached number 38 in the German album charts, number 3 in Japan and number 18 in Great Britain in the first week. The acceptance among fans and critics was mostly positive, even if there was some criticism of the departure from Melodic Metal / Progressive Metal.
