Roland Grapow

Roland Grapow (born August 30, 1959 in Hamburg ) is a German guitarist . He is best known for his longstanding membership in the power metal band Helloween . He's now playing for Masterplan . He has also released two solo albums.

Career

Grapow started playing the guitar at the age of 12. He was particularly inspired by guitarists like Michael Schenker and Uli Jon Roth . He played in various bands and eventually recorded two professional albums with the band Rampage , but only stayed with them until 1983 and then became less musically active.

After Kai Hansen announced that he wanted to leave Helloween at the end of 1988, Michael Weikath remembered Grapow and called him. So he recorded 8 albums with the band. He also released two solo records. In 2001 he and Uli Kusch were dismissed due to personal and musical differences.

So Grapow and Kusch formed a master plan together with Jørn Lande , which they had planned as a side project beforehand. In 2015 Grapow released the debut album As Daylight Breaks with the band Serious Black . The band consists of Urban Breed (ex- Tad Morose , vocals), Dominik Sebastian ( Edenbridge , guitar), Mario Lochert (ex- Visions of Atlantis , bass), Thomen Stauch (ex- Blind Guardian , drums) and Jan Vacik (Ex- Dreamscape , keyboards).
