Tad Morose is a Swedish power metal band. Next they belong Morgana Lefay the most influential representatives of the Scandinavian power metal scene. The name of the band is derived from the English "a tad morose", which means "a bit grouchy, grumpy, sullen, morose". Translating “tad” with “boy”, which is also possible, would result in the meaning “grouchy, sullen, grumpy, morose boy”.

Band history

The band was founded in 1991 in Bollnäs . In early 1992 singer Anders Westlund joined the cast, but left Tad Morose at the end of 1992 after a few live appearances. During the first demo recordings I got in touch with Kristian Andrén, a friend of drummer Dan-Erik Eriksson. After a few jam sessions he was hired as the new singer. Keyboardist Fredrik Eriksson also belonged to the band, and the demo recorded with this line-up led to a record deal with Black Mark Production . The debut album Leaving the Past Behind was released in Europe in 1993 and attracted national attention. Despite excellent reviews in the USA, u. a. in the magazine Metal Maniacs , no distributor could be found for the local market . However, the album was released in Australia and Japan and sold over 3,000 times there alone.

The planned for early 1994 recordings for the second studio album Sender of Thoughts was delayed because of the departure of drummer Dan-Erik Eriksson. For him came Peter Morén, so that the album could appear in February 1995. Shortly after the release bassist Per-Ola Olsson left the band on the subsequent Germany - tour with Crematory , Morgana Lefay and Memento Mori , he was replaced by Anders Modd. In 1996 the split EP Paradigma appeared with Memento Mori, to which singer Kristian Andrén switched shortly afterwards. The band found replacement in Urban Breed, in this line-up the third album A Mended Rhyme was recorded and released in 1997.

When keyboardist Fredrik Eriksson left Tad Morose in 1998, the band decided to hire a second guitarist instead of a keyboardist, Daniel Olsson. A little later, Tad Morose parted ways with her label Black Mark Production and was signed by Century Media in 2000 . Undead appeared in the same year and Matters of the Dark in 2002 . After a European tour and appearances at Sweden Rock and Wacken Open Air , the seventh studio album Modus Vivendi was released in 2003 . The studio dates set for 2006 could not be kept because singer Urban Breed left the band at the end of 2005. Christer Andersson cited the reason that Breed had not yet written a single song text at the planned start of the studio recordings, despite acceptance. A new singer was found in Joe Comeau (ex- Annihilator ), but he left the band after a few live performances in 2007 because the Swedes' collaboration with the singer who lives in the USA proved to be impractical. Guitarist Daniel Olsson also left Tad Morose in 2007 and joined Urban Breed's new band Trail of Murder. Due to the numerous line-up changes Century Media had released the band from all contracts in the meantime. Singer Ronny Hemlin has been part of the cast since 2008. In the following years Tad Morose completed a few gigs, mostly in Sweden. In March 2012, the band announced that guitarist Markus Albertson was replaced by Kenneth Jonsson (formerly Torch ). Tad Morose also confirmed that work on the studio album, which had been announced since 2009, is almost complete and that it will be titled Revenant . The album was released on November 22, 2013 on the Swedish independent label Despotz Records in the distribution of Cargo Records .

On August 28, 2015, St. Demonius was published again through Despotz, on June 15, 2018, its successor Chapter X at GMR Music Group.
