Edenbridge is the name of an Austrian music group that was founded in 1998 by guitarist Arne “Lanvall” Stockhammer together with bassist Kurt Bednarsky, drummer Roland Navratil and singer Sabine Edelsbacher as front woman.
Stylistically, they specialize in melodic and symphonic metal with progressive tendencies. You yourself describe your own style as "Angelic Bombastic Metal" - and are therefore best placed between bands like Nightwish and Within Temptation .
history
Founded in 1998 as a studio project, the rise began with the debut album Sunrise in Eden , which was released in 2000 by the Massacre Records label. After Andreas Eibler joined the company, the recordings for the second studio production Arcana began . The CD was released in November 2001.
2002 was marked by several successful tours in Europe and Asia. After the tour through Asia, Kurt Bednarsky left the band. He was replaced by Mike Koren ( Visions of Atlantis ) , among others . After the release of the CDs A Lifetime in Eden and Shine in 2003 and In 2004 it went again - together with Angra - on a European tour. Immediately after the release of Shine , Andreas Eibler left the band and was replaced by Martin Mayr on the following tour. Frank Bindig joined the band as reinforcement on bass.
In 2006 the band released the single For Your Eyes Only , a cover version of the theme song from the James Bond film In A Deadly Mission by Sheena Easton , and the album The Grand Design . In November the band signed a worldwide record deal with Napalm Records .
The next album, MyEarthDream , was released on April 25, 2008. On this album, Edenbridge is supported by the Czech Film Orchestra, which consists of 65 musicians from the Czech Philharmonic and the Orchestra of the Czech National Theater . Lanvall's arrangements were implemented for the orchestra by the conductor and composer Enrique Ugarte .
In November 2008, Edenbridge announced that Frank Bindig had decided to leave the band to pursue other projects.
On May 4, 2009 the live album LiveEarthDream , limited to 1000 copies , was released. It contains recordings of some concerts from 2008 and should only be available via the website or the fan shop.
On July 2, 2010, the seventh studio album Solitaire came on the market, after the pre-release of the first single Higher . It was the first music video shot since the band was founded. Solitaire did not make it into the Austrian charts, but reached number 95 in the German album charts.
Wolfgang Rothbauer (ex- Disbelief , Zombie Inc. , Thirdmoon , In Slumber , GodHateCode , Eisblut , Aeoneve and Silence After Carnage ) has been bassist at Edenbridge since February 2013 .
On June 21, 2013, the eighth studio album The Bonding was released, but did not make it into the album charts.
