history

Thirdmoon was founded in 1994 by Wolfgang Rothbauer. On the debut album Grotesque Autumnal Weepings , which the band released in 1997 on CCP Records , influences of Nordic black metal bands can still be heard, but they soon disappeared. After the Frenchman Matias Larrede joined the band as second guitarist in 1998 , Thirdmoon signed a contract with Napalm Records in 1999 , under which they released Aquis Submersus and 2000 Bloodforsaken in the same year . A tour with freezing rain followed.

In 2001, Thirdmoon separated from Napalm Records. Only three years later the next album Sworn Enemy: Heaven was released on FM Records in July 2004 . In the same year Wolfgang Rothbauer founded the death metal project Eisblut with several members of Eisregen , his second side project after In Slumber , which he founded in 2002. After a European tour with Grave and Disparaged , the label FM-Records had to stop working with Thirdmoon in 2005 due to financial difficulties.

In April 2007, after a long break and line-up changes, a new partner was found in Maintain Records from Berlin . In the fall of 2007, their fifth album entitled Dimorphic Cynosure was released.
