Walls of Jericho is the debut album of Helloween . It was released on Noise International in 1985.
History of origin
The album was preceded by a self-titled EP released in the same year , which is also known as a mini-LP.
On Walls of Jericho and Judas - Single is the last time Kai Hansen heard as a singer. Already on the short Judas tour in 1986 the band tried to win Ralf Scheepers (then with Tyran Pace, later together with Hansen with Gamma Ray ) as a singer, as Hansen felt increasingly uncomfortable with the double burden of singing and guitar. However, since Scheepers did not want to be involved in the long term, Helloween hired Michael Kiske, then 18 years old, in 1987 .
Music genre
Helloween's melodic and fast style is already fully developed on the debut album, albeit with a much less cheerful touch. Hansen's powerful (not always accurate) vocals also contributed to the fact that the songs sounded much harder than on the following Keeper albums.

In addition to the title song, there are two live recordings on the original vinyl edition of the single. On all CD reissues, however, there are two "fake" live versions in their place. These are the studio versions to which audience noises have been added. In both cases, the credits indicate a concert in Gelsenkirchen that was recorded by WDR radio as the source . There is also a vinyl bootleg from this concert recording ( Bang The Head That Does Not Bang ). A 12-inch version for the American market also contains two further studio pieces from the debut EP .
