Markus Grosskopf
Markus Grosskopf (* 21st September 1965 in Hamburg ) is a German power and speed metal - musician and founder of the band Helloween .
Live and act
Alongside Michael Weikath , Markus Grosskopf is the last remaining founding member of the Hamburg- based power and speed metal band Helloween , which is one of the most successful metal bands in Germany. After playing in several less successful bands as a child, he met Michael Weikath and Kai Hansen during his apprenticeship as a butcher in 1983 , who were just about to form Helloween with members of their former bands. Grosskopf has worked on every release of the band so far, but has rarely worked as a songwriter compared to the other band members.
Grosskopf's first side project to Helloween was the group Shock Machine, in which he played bass and rhythm guitar. The band released their first album in 1998. He also played bass on the first two albums of Tobias Sammet's project Avantasia. In his experimental side project Bassinvaders , Grosskopf dispenses with any six-string guitars, electrical and acoustic.
Musical style
Grosskopf himself names Deep Purple , Rainbow , Thin Lizzy , Kiss and UFO as his musical influences. He mainly plays Sandberg basses .
