Storm Warrior is a Founded in 1998, German Metal - band from Hamburg .
Band history
The band Stormwarrior was founded in 1998 by Lars Ramcke and André Schumann, who brought guitarist Scott Bölter and bassist Tim Zienert into their project in the same year. Strongly inspired by the 80s metal scene, but above all by metal from Hamburg like Helloween or Running Wild , Stormwarrior recorded their first songs together on their first demo tape ("Metal Victory") in 1999 500 copies was limited.
A year later the second demo tape was recorded ("Barbaric Steel"), which was limited to 1000 copies. These two demo tapes helped the band to gain a certain amount of notoriety.
After many live shows (including at the Headbangers Open Air , the Warriors of Steel Meeting , and on the Logo in Hamburg) the Italian music label Dream Evil Records released the 333-limited demo tape "Possessed by Metal" in the 7 " Format released, which includes two songs from the previous demo tape.
After signing a contract with the Hamburg label Remedy Records , the band released a second 7 " (limited to 250 copies) in early 2002 , named after the title track" Spikes & Leather ".
The debut album was recorded and produced by Kai Hansen and Dirk Schlächter in July 2002. The cover was drawn by the renowned artist Uwe Karczewski , who is known for his work on CD covers for bands like Helloween and Iron Angel .
After their appearance at Wacken Open Air 2002 and the Motala Metal Festival in Sweden , the band began recording the EP "Heavy Metal Fire".
During the production of this EP, guitarist Scott Bölter left the band and was replaced by David Wieczorek. After several appearances at festivals in July and August (e.g. Gates Of Metal festival in Sweden) Stormwarrior returned to the Hansen Studios to produce the second album "Northern Rage", which was released in June 2004.
The album "At Foreign Shores - Live in Japan" was released on August 25, 2006. It is Stormwarrior's first live album.
In December 2007 they left Remedy Records and signed a contract with Dockyard 1 . The album "Heading Northe", which will be released at the end of February 2008, was released via the new record label. It was recorded in the in-house Thunderhall Studio Hamburg, mixed by Piet Sielck (Powerhouse Studio Hamburg) and mastered by Tommy Hansen (Jailhouse Studios, Denmark).
In November 2008 Stormwarrior toured as a support band with Firewind and Kiuas in Germany, Holland and Belgium. It was their first tour in Europe.
Yenz Lenhardt and Falko Reshöft returned to the band in 2019. In the same year the album "Norsemen" was released.
style
Stormwarrior play a very rough, fast Metal , which is very similar to the sound of the first Helloween LP "Walls of Jericho". The consistent use of a fast double bass , fast guitar runs and both fast guitar solos as well as the rough vocals of Ramcke, which corresponds to the singing of the above, are particularly striking. "Walls of Jericho" resembles that. Lyrically, at least on the first album, the band deals with the usual True Metal themes, such as battles or glorious victories, for which the "Sons of Steel" (cf. "Stormwarrior - Sons of Steele") have to prepare. However, the mystical reference is completely missing here. Since the album "Northern Rage" the band has moved more towards Viking Metal . Some songs deal only indirectly ("Heavy Metal Fire" / "The Axewielder"), other songs directly with the usual topics in Viking Metal, such as the life, fighting, death or celebration of Vikings or their mythological beliefs .

This is most strongly expressed in the song "Lindisfarne", which refers completely and directly to the Lindisfarne monastery , which was attacked by Vikings in what is known as the beginning of the "Viking Age".
The artwork of the album "Heading Northe", which was released at the end of February 2008, shows that the band wants to stay in the Viking Metal category, because several dragon boats swimming in the ocean can be seen on the album's cover .

Stormwarrior sometimes played live performances together with Gamma Ray or his front man Kai Hansen, where they not only played their own but also old Helloween songs from the "Walls of Jericho" -LP, as well as at the Wacken Open Air 2007, the Earthshaker Fest or the Bloodstock Open Air in Great Britain .
