The Traceelords was a German rock band from Hagen in Westphalia. The name of the group is obviously based on the American porn actress Traci Lords , whose name in turn is a modification of the Katharine Hepburn role Tracy Lord in the film The Philadelphia Story .

style

The style of the music combines glam rock with wind instruments and a boatman's piano, poser metal and rock; Comparisons to Kiss , The Sweet , and Chris Norman can be drawn.

Band history

Singer and guitarist Andy Brings used to play for Sodom and later ran a music studio with drummer Haan Hartmann in Hagen. Before that, a first solo song appeared as Andy Brings Band on a rock hard sampler. It was renamed Andy & The Traceelords and the CD “Pussy!” Was released (on drums: Jörg Michael von Stratovarius). Only then did Brings / Hartmann's paths cross. This was followed by a contribution to the Kiss Germany tribute album and a recording contract with the first album Sex, Money, Rock'n'Roll , which was released twice, once by the band itself and once by Massacre Records. It mostly contained new recordings of the songs previously released by Andy Brings alone. Then the singer of the Erlangen band Bullig Slick Prolidol joined as bassist.

After many concerts, including a tour with Twyster at the end of 2001, and another tribute contribution (this time Motörhead ), the record label Roadrunner Records became aware of The Traceelords. They became the first German band to be signed to Roadrunner Records for over ten years . In 2004, the album Refuse to Kiss Ass , the band's maxim, was released.

The band's press release on the album was written by Christof Leim from the music magazine Metal Hammer und Guitar, who later became a member of the band himself at the request of Andy Brings and replaced Mirko Salipahic. Tours with the Dirty Americans , Alice Cooper , Whitesnake and JBO followed

In 2005 the band toured again with JBO , and they also played concerts with Anathema , Finntroll and Marky Ramone .

In May 2006 the third album "The Ali of Rock" was released on the record company AFM Records in Europe and on Locomotive in North America. A video clip was published for the first time for the song "My Evil Girlfriend" . In September 2006, several concerts followed as support from Ted Nugent and Bela B. On December 30, 2006, shortly after their warm-up appearance for the New Year's Eve concert by Die Ärzte , Andy Brings disbanded the band he had founded. While Andy Brings started a solo project, Slick and Haan founded the band Slick's Kitchen. Before the Traceelords broke up, Leim joined the old rockers von Sinner and later founded the heavy rock band The New Black.
