Traci Elizabeth Lords (* 7. May 1968 in Steubenville , Ohio , as Nora Louise Kuzma ) is an American actress , musician and former porn actress .

The involvement of the underage lords in the production of hardcore porn films caused a nationwide scandal in the United States in 1986.

Surname

Traci Lords, originally a stage name , is a combination of the name of her best friend in high school (Traci) and her favorite actor on the Hawaii Five-Zero television series , Jack Lord . The actress later had her name officially changed, since then her real name has been Traci Elizabeth Lords.

Life

Childhood and youth

Traci Lords comes from the small town of Steubenville in the state of Ohio. Her father was an alcoholic . According to her own statements, she was raped when she was ten. When she was twelve, her mother moved her, three other children, and her boyfriend to California for fear of her husband .

At the age of 15, Traci Lords became pregnant. She ran away from home and decided to have an abortion . She then lived with a friend about thirty years her senior who acted as her stepfather.

As a minor in the porn industry

Traci Lords used a friend's sister's birth certificate to get a driver's license. With this she pretended to be of legal age and thus gained access to the porn industry. First, she posed for nude photos in various men's magazines , brokered by Jim South's modeling agency World Modeling . The US edition of Penthouse magazine chose it as the Pet of the Month for the September 1984 issue. Since this also included nude photos of the then Miss America , Vanessa Williams , the magazine had a very high circulation, the highest in Penthouse history . And that's how Traci Lords became famous.

From the age of 16, Traci Lords starred in hardcore porn films and was soon one of the most popular actresses in the genre worldwide. In the two years up to her 18th birthday, she starred in around 100 porn films. In her autobiography Traci Lords Underneath It All , published in the USA in 2003 , she speaks of only 20 films - all other titles only contained newly compiled scenes from these 20 films.

In 1986, Lords' then minority became known, which led to a huge scandal in the United States (see below ). She later stated that while she was working as a porn actress, she was under the influence of alcohol and other drugs practically all the time and that she was forced to do things that she did not want to do. Your partner at the time as well as employees in the porn industry always denied this.

Later career

Traci Lords (2006)

Traci Lords later took acting classes and is now a busy actress in television series and films. Her best-known appearances were in the film Not of This Earth (1988) produced by the Roger Cormans company , in John Waters ' Cry-Baby (1990) and in Blade (1998).

She expresses outrage that the trademark “porn” will continue to be “imprinted” on her. Accordingly, she refused to include any nude scenes in her films after Not of This Earth , which was the last to contain one.

From 1990 she worked as a singer and songwriter. She published the future-pop album 1000 Fires , also she was a guest singer on the album Generation Terrorists by Manic Street Preachers (1992) and Acid Eaters from the Ramones to hear (1994). She sang a duet in Little Baby Nothing , which was released as a single in the UK and reached number 29 in the charts .

Private life

Lords is (2008) married for the third time. She gave birth to a son on October 7, 2007.

The scandal surrounding the involvement of a minor in pornographic films

The involvement of a minor in numerous hardcore porn films caused a nationwide scandal in the United States in 1986. There have been hearings in Congress and amendments to the law . Traci Lords appeared on talk shows complaining of her abuse by the porn industry.

The prosecution was investigating the producers and distributors of Lords' films. Their agents and producers who accepted their false age certificates were charged.

consequences

According to national law, the films with Traci Lords were classified as child pornography in the USA and banned. The films and magazines in which she appeared were withdrawn from sale and destroyed.

The commercially successful film Traci, I Love You from 1987 is the only legal film production as she was of legal age at the time. The film was produced by Lords himself and she also owned the marketing rights.

In most European countries - because of different age limits - their earlier films also remained legal and some of them are still available. In the US, some of them had their scenes in which they were involved removed before being re-released.
