action
The sniper John Carter is seriously injured during a mission in Afghanistan by the betrayal of the mercenary Sarka. Since there is practically no chance that he will survive, he is used by the army for a teletransportation experiment to a distant planet, in the course of which his body is restored. On the planet Barsoom he is trapped by the strange looking Thark, but thanks to his honorable behavior and his strength in battle he soon wins the respect of Thark Tars Tarkas.
After rescuing the human-looking Princess Dejah Thoris, both are taken to the cruel ruler of the Tarks, where Carter is forced to fight Tars, whom he already considers a friend. But he manages to force the ruler of the Tarks into the ring, where he is killed by Tars, who now takes control. In the meantime, Sarka, who has secretly come to the planet with Carter, tries by trickery and deceit to take over the heart of the princess and rule over the planet. But Carter thwarted his plans. At the moment of triumph he is transported back to earth, where he now waits for a chance to return to the princess.
