Charles Rohlfs (born February 15, 1853 in New York , † June 29, 1936 in Buffalo , New York ) was an American furniture designer .

Rohlfs had been an actor in Boston since 1868 . In 1884 he married the future writer Anne Katharine Green . His father-in-law agreed to the marriage on condition that Rohlfs give up acting. Rohlfs began designing furniture that a few years later found worldwide approval. After an exhibition in Turin in 1902, Rohlfs was accepted into the Royal Society of Arts in London and commissioned to design a furniture group for Buckingham Palace .

Rohlfs is one of the representatives of the Arts and Crafts Movement .
