Andy Brings
Andy Brings (born June 10, 1971 in Mülheim an der Ruhr , bourgeois Andreas Brings ) is a German musician, producer and filmmaker. He became known in the early 1990s as the guitarist of the thrash metal band Sodom .
life and career
After changing schools, Andy Brings graduated from high school in 1992 at the Lehnerstrasse vocational college in Mülheim an der Ruhr.
Sodom (1991-1994)
During his school days Andy Brings worked as a fanzine maker and guitarist in various local bands (including Banshee, Megaschlimm), but they couldn't get beyond demo recordings. While still in 13th grade, the hobby musician joined the professional band Sodom at the end of 1991, but finished his high school graduation. Joining Sodom heralded his career as a professional musician. In 1994 Andy Brings left Sodom because of internal disputes.
The Traceelords (1997-2006)
In 1997 Andy Brings founded "Andy & The Traceelords ", later called "The Traceelords". Before that, a first solo song was released on a rock-hard sampler called Andy Brings Band . The band released three albums and was broken up by Andy Brings on December 30, 2006, shortly after their warm-up appearance for the New Year's Eve concert by Die Ärzte .
Powergod (1998-2006)
In 1998 Andy Brings founded the power metal band Powergod under the pseudonym "Riff Randall", together with Haan Hartman alias "Hama Hart". The members chose the pseudonyms to protect their main band "The Traceelords" and to underline the satirical approach of the project. Originally planned as a fun side project, Powergod received offers from record companies after an article in the trendy magazine Rock Hard. From then on, the band continued with various line-up changes until 2006.
Andy Brings solo (2007-2013 and 2020)
In 2008 Andy Brings released his first solo single with Wildes Mädchen . It placed in the top 100 of the German charts. The solo album "Rock 'n' Roll" followed three years later.
In addition, Andy Brings worked as a producer after his time at The Traceelords, including Yuppie Club, Seafoam Green, El Postre, Spiral Tower, Twyster , various official football fan CDs ( Bayer 04 Leverkusen , VfL Wolfsburg , Borussia Dortmund , Hanover 96 , Borussia Mönchengladbach ), The Ambassadors, Blackwell, King's Tonic , Jesus on Extasy , Uncle Tom , Powerball, Die Knappen, Lee's Request and Preacher.
In 2007, 2012 and 2013 he accompanied Tuff and Pretty Boy Floyd on their UK and European tours as guitarist.
Andy Brings announced a new solo single with Anker for May 29, 2020 .
Double Crush Syndrome (2013–)
In 2013 Andy Brings founded the band Double Crush Syndrome with Aurora Steffens and Markus Herzog. The current line-up consists of Andy Brings (vocals, guitar), Markus Herzog (drums) and Slick Prolidol (bass, vocals).
Between 2013 and 2016 the band was without a label and released their first CD, The You Filter , on their own. Double Crush Syndrome went on tour with bands like JBO , Ohrfeindt , Doro Pesch , Hardcore Superstar , Sebastian Bach (ex- Skid Row ) and also played various concerts with Loudness , WASP , Miyavi , The 69 Cats and Ugly Kid Joe .
In 2016 the record company Arising Empire signed Double Crush Syndrome. After the vinyl single Die For Rock´n´Roll (2016), the album of the same name was released a year later, which was produced by Andy Brings and made it into the top 50 of the German charts. After various tours, for example through England with Steve 'n' Seagulls and through Germany, as well as some festival appearances, the band toured Germany and Spain as a special guest with Skid Row in 2018.
In the summer of 2019 the band performed for the first time in Moscow. On August 18, 2019, Double Crush Syndrome presented a cover version of Andy Borg's The Famous Three Words on the TV show " ZDF-Fernsehgarten " .
In October 2019, the album Death to Pop, produced by Uwe Hoffmann (including Die Ärzte, Sportfreunde Stiller ) and Andy Brings, was released one year late on Arising Empire.
A headlining tour through Europe planned for January 2020 was canceled in November 2019 for personal and health reasons. There was another sign of life for the band in May 2020: On May 30th, Double Crush Syndrome will play a concert at Essen / Mülheim Airport as part of a drive-in screening of the Andy Brings film "Full Circle - Last Exist Rock 'n' Roll ".
FULL CIRCLE - Last Exit Rock´n´Roll (2018)
Full Circle - Last Exit Rock ´n´ Roll is a movie by and with Andy Brings, which he made together with Popo Chanel, Jan Weiner, Alexander Waldhelm and Christian Boenisch. Alsoincluded are Doro Pesch, Tom Angelripper , Liz Baffoe , Skid Row, and Andy Brings' mother Hildegard Brings. The film is based on Andy Brings' life story and tells his path from fanboy to tour with his favorite band Skid Row. The world premiere took place on September 12, 2018 in the sold out Lichtburg in Essen . Several national broadcasts followed in cinemas of the Cinestar Multiplex Group. The film was released in April 2019 as Blu-ray by Arising Empire / Warner and digitally by Universum Film .
Political activity
In March 2020 Andy Brings announced his candidacy for the office of Lord Mayor in his hometown of Mülheim ad Ruhr. He is running for The PARTY .
