Volxsturm is a German Oi! -Tape. It was founded in Schwerin in 1991 .

history

In contrast to most of the Oi! Bands of the 1980s, when they were founded, Volxsturm did not just refer to the skinhead , but also to the punk scene . This United idea corresponded to the zeitgeist of the skinhead scene in Germany in the 1990s and is also expressed in the band's early lyrics.

The name Volxsturm was written on the door of the rehearsal room at that time in the early days of the music project and then kept as the band name. Due to its spelling, it can be understood as a play on words from the German Volkssturm and the politically left-wing folk kitchen . The band itself sees its name as a provocation, distances itself from political extremes and positions itself as anti-fascist and politically more left-wing.

Volxsturm describe their style of punk rock as "Chaos Rock'n'Roll".

In the early days of the band there were some line-up changes. In 2009 David Stahmer left the band, his place was taken by the guitarist of the Schwerin hardcore band Ground Zero Marcus. Ex-band member Stahmer was active as a guitarist with Smegma until their dissolution , he sings and now plays guitar with his new band Heiamann .

Volxsturm is under contract with Sunny Bastards Records .

The 2015 released album Massenunauglich made it into the charts for the first time. Ferdy Doernberg played the wind and acoustic guitar on this album . Since then he has occasionally been on tour as a live musician.

Singer Rene "Hinkel" Hinkelmann left the band in 2017, he replaced Robert.

  6. “Punk rock means provocation. Thus, the band name “Volxsturm” is understood as such and is to be understood in the tradition of 1980s punk bands such as “ SS Ultrabrutal ”, “ Brutal Molded ” etc. If you don't have a musical drawer, you build one. You yourself gave it the label “Chaos Rock'n'Roll”. ”( Self-presentation : Volxsturm website ( Memento from February 5, 2009 in the Internet Archive ) (PDF))
