The Broilers are a punk band from Düsseldorf , which has its origins in the Oi! - and has punk rock scene.

history

In 1992 Sammy Amara and Andi Bruges founded a band that two years later became the Broilers. In addition to the punk rock roots, they also integrated influences from the traditional, anti-racist skinhead and rudeboy scene into their sound. As in the Oi! -Scene quite common, one chose a band name that contains the letter combination oi .

In 1996 the band recorded their first three-song EP Schenk mir eine Blume . The debut album was released a year later, followed by three more long players, two EPs and the development beyond the Oi! Scene. Since the release of the album Vanitas in 2007 at the latest , the band no longer sees itself as an Oi! Punk band, but has made a significant step towards rockabilly .

The Broilers have been under contract with People Like You Records since October 2006 .

The collaboration of the singer Sammy Amara with the Toten Hosen , who also come from Düsseldorf, enabled the band to perform several guest appearances at their concerts and led to a significant increase in awareness. The band has appeared all over Germany since 2010 and performs regularly at major festivals . In 2011 JKP took over the management of the band.

On June 10, 2011, the album Santa Muerte was released , which was recorded in the Principal Studios by Vincent Sorg and debuted at number 3 on the album charts. The Broilers were nominated in 2011 for the 1 Live Krone in the category Best Live Act .

On September 28, 2012, the Broilers' first live album, Santa Muerte Live Tapes, was released. It contains a total of 31 tracks that were recorded during the ongoing “Santa Muerte” tour in Dortmund, Leipzig and Bremen.

At the end of the 18-month “Santa Muerte” tour, the Broilers played two sold-out concerts on December 14th and 15th, 2012 in the Mitsubishi Electric Hall in their home town of Düsseldorf in front of a total of 15,000 visitors.

On December 20, 2013, Is There Somebody was released as a pre-single for the album Noir on iTunes and limited as vinyl.

The album Noir was released on February 7, 2014 and entered the German album charts at number one .

On December 19 and 20, 2014, the band celebrated their 20th anniversary in the local ISS Dome , which was sold out on both days. Thees Uhlmann , Campino , 4 Promille and the Misfits appeared as guests .

On February 3, 2017, her seventh studio album (sic!) Was released under her own music label Skull & Palms Recordings together with Warner Music Group . The motivation to have your own label, which means more work, was the independence that resulted from it.

In addition to classic elements from Oi and punk rock, the band also processes influences from rockabilly and the ska and reggae areas . Since the album Noir , the band has been perceived as a rock band.

In 2011 the Broilers were nominated in the category “Best Live Act” at the 1LIVE Krone . In 2017 they won the Echo in the “Rock national” category.
