The cover is black according to the title. A forearm tucked into a black jacket is shown on the black cover surface. The hand, clad in a black leather glove, holds a knife. At the bottom there is Broilers in white capital letters and Noir underneath . The booklet is also black and contains not only the white lyrics but also pictures of the band members. Only three songs are printed in black on a white background. It was designed by Sammy Amara, and Robert Eikelpoth is responsible for the photos.

subjects

The song The Rest and I deals with today's global slide to the right of today's youth. With the song, the Broilers want to wake up and warn the audience. The band got the inspiration for the song in the recording studio from an intern who was unfamiliar with the racist riots in Rostock-Lichtenhagen . According to the band, it is important to position yourself clearly there.

Press reviews

After metal.de, the Düsseldorfers explored their musical limits a little further. The Oi! -Punk has almost completely disappeared and, as with the previous releases, a new nuance has been added this time. The new component would be called Pop. However, they would have bent less than it would appear. Noir has become an ambitious and courageous album that has both familiar things and surprises in store for the listener.

The album received a negative review from plattentests.de . Attributes such as Oi -, street- or Sonstwas Punk remained almost completely in the drawer. They have finally mutated into a rock band . Some numbers indicated that they still mastered their core competencies, but where exactly the Broilers wanted to go with this record was neither musically nor lyrically revealed.

Musikreviews.de is of the opinion that with this new album they sound as grown up as they are. The punk roots still shimmered through in a large part of the 16 songs, sometimes stronger when things get faster, but sometimes only rudimentary. On Noir, there would be influences from the singer-songwriter genre as well as a bit of 80s pop and wave to the well-known ska and rock 'n' roll elements. Lyrically, the Broilers also rely on Noir on the one hand on clear statements, on the other hand you would have to listen carefully to notice what it is about. With the song I don't want to be here you didn't immediately notice that it was dealing with the boat refugee problem. The author sums up that it might be helpful to be in his mid-thirties himself to find Noir good, because the attitude towards life that the Broilers conveyed on this album is then pretty easy to understand.

At the latest since the release of the top three album Santa Muerte in 2011, the Broilers have belonged to the crème de la crème of the national punk rock scene for laut.de. Of course, the Düsseldorf-based company did not want to give up this status and would come around the corner with full guitars, with a little more distortion compared to its predecessor . Many of the people from the Rhineland carry many fans not only because of their music, but especially because of their lyrics. On Noir, too, the Broilers skillfully tore down barriers with encouragement slogans, social slaps and lots of hope for better times.
