Ricki Pamela Lake (born September 21, 1968 in Hastings-on-Hudson , New York ) is an American talk show host and former actress .

Life

Lake first attended Hastings High School , then Professional Children's School in New York City , where she learned to act. She then studied at Ithaca College for a year .

Her earliest films with Lake included Hairspray (1988) by John Waters , for which she was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award in 1989 . In the comedy Serial Mom - Why doesn't Mama stop killing? (1994) she played the role of Misty Sutphin , the daughter of Beverly Sutphin , who played Kathleen Turner . In the comedy Mrs. Winterbourne (1996) she played one of the leading roles alongside Shirley MacLaine and Brendan Fraser .

From 1993 to 2004, Lake had her own talk show called Ricki Lake . In 1994 she was nominated for the Daytime Emmy for her moderation . In 1996 she was awarded the Swedish Aftonbladets TV-pris . She also appeared in several episodes of the television series King of Queens in the role of Stefanie , Doug's sister. In 2006 she hosted the CBS television show Gameshow Marathon .

In 2008 the documentary film The Business Of Being Born , made with Abby Epstein , was released, which deals with the subject of natural birth and questions current, harmful practices in obstetrics. In November 2011, the sequel will be released with More Business Of Being Born , which takes a closer look at birth possibilities and also includes the birth stories of celebrities. From 2012 to 2013 she presented another talk show, The Ricky Lake Show , and despite her early dismissal in 2013, she won the Daytime Emmy as Outstanding Talk Show Host, the first prize of her career.

Lake was married to Rob Sussman from 1994 to 2003 and has two children.
