Sharon Janny den Adel (born July 12, 1974 in Waddinxveen , South Holland ) is a Dutch singer and songwriter . She is the singer of the symphonic metal band Within Temptation .

Career

In 1996 the nobility founded the band Within Temptation with their partner Robert Westerholt . Before that, both were members of a band called Voyage. Den Adel is a trained fashion designer and still practiced this profession in Within Temptation's first years. After the success of the single Ice Queen , she gave up this job as a profession and has since concentrated on her musical career.

Although the nobility sings professionally in her band, she never had singing lessons. According to her own statement, she trained herself. She also worked on other projects, including appearances on After Forever , Avantasia , Ayreon and Delain .

Together with the Dutch DJ Armin van Buuren , she produced the single "In and Out of Love" in 2008, on which she also appeared as a singer.

In 2010 she sang in a duet with Dero von Oomph! the song "Land Ahead".

On November 10, 2017, the nobility announced that they would start a side project with My Indigo . The single of the same name was released on the same day.

On November 20, 2017, a new tour for the end of 2018 and a new album with their band Within Temptation was announced. Now it became known what the personal reasons for her break with the band were.

Trivia

Even before Within Temptation was founded, the aristocracy was in a relationship with Robert Westerholt. On December 7, 2005, she became the mother of her daughter Eva Luna. On June 1, 2009, she gave birth to their second child, son Robin Aiden. Because of another pregnancy, the tour was postponed from spring 2011 to autumn 2011. Their third child, son Logan Arwin, was born in late March 2011.

She currently lives near Gouda . The nobility wear clothes that they designed themselves when appearing and in photos.

Her musical influences include Tori Amos , Paradise Lost , Nirvana , The Verve , HIM and Bob Marley .
