Waddinxveen ( listen ^{? / I} ) is a municipality in the Dutch province of South Holland .

history

On April 20, 1233, Floris IV, Count of Holland, sold a Venn area to Nicolaas van Gnepwijk for 200 Dutch guilders . The area was named Waddinxvene . Therefore April 20, 1233 is Waddinxveen's date of birth.

Name origin

It is possible that the name part Waddinx- comes from a personal name Wadding. Another possibility is that the name comes from Watt (Dutch wadde ).

His colleagues include the alderman Gezina Atzema ( VVD ), Henry ten Zijthoff ( PvdA / GroenLinks ), Kirsten Schippers ( Weerbaar Waddinxveen ), Hannie van der Wal-Hortensius ( D66 ) and the municipal secretary Annemie Blomme .
